September 7th, 2008Oh hey!
I'm not dead. No, really. I'm having something of a giant life upheaval, but once it's all settled back down I will actually be able to update things on a regular basis. And maybe even have a more up to date portfolio! Wouldn't that be exciting? I think so.

For now, I've updated some texty things. Later.

April 23rd, 2008 Look! A Mermaid!

I have a mermaid thing. I've been painting pretty much nothing else. I don't know what gives. They're just awesome. My pirate fetish is also well established, so here is the best of both worlds, and a piece I'm rather proud of.

I've done about 6 watercolor paintings in the past two days (again, mostly mermaids). A couple weeks ago I went to a store here in downtown Plymouth called the Laughing Moon and asked if they'll take artwork on a consignment basis. They said yes, and to bring some things down, and I suddenly realized that I HAD NOTHING TO BRING. So I've been churning some shit out to bring down there, which I'm hoping to do in the next few days. If you've never been, there's a brief tour of the shop in this video. It's a fun little store if you're into all that hippie and new age shit, as I very much am.

April 18th, 2008 Big Pimpin

Okay, so my brief hiatus wasn't so brief. I haven't really been doing much in the way of creating, but I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. I've got plans for a busy summer of craft fairs and face painting, so there will be more to come. I do have a couple things to scan. I'll get around to it.

The real point of this is to pimp out the work of my honey, Jakob Wilson. He's taking his photography seriously nowadays, has a gallery showing rapidly approaching, and will be joining me on the craft fair circuit to peddle his creative wares. The photo above is one of his, and one of my favorites. I may be biased, but he is pretty damn talented. Follow the photo to his website to see more of his work.

November 2nd, 2007 Brief Hiatus

It's November! And that means it's National Novel Writing Month, and I'm throwing myself into the fray head first, just as I did last year, but this year I hope to actually make my 50,000 word goal. There wont be any new blog posts or site updates until December, sad to say, while I type until my fingers bleed. Wish me luck, and see you in December!

(The piece, btw, is a recent colored pencil and ink drawing I did for a portfolio I'm putting together.)

October 17th, 2007Flickr

I got a new digital camera that, even though it's the cheapest one I could find, is a giant improvement over my old one. I've been running around Plymouth snapping photos to play with it, and used the results to start a flickr album. More photos like this one here.

October 2nd, 2007ACEOs

Earlier this year I started making art cards. They are a blast. These are some of the more recent ones I've done. Tiny little 2.5"x3.5" masterpieces. Well, okay, maybe not quite masterpieces, but they did teach me a lot about my colored pencils. Working on such a small space wasn't nearly as limiting as I imagined it would be.

September 30th, 2007Details
So, I turned my front page into this. Sort of a blog, except you totally cant comment, suckers. Well, you can, by emailing me. Portfolio updates will happen from time to time, and I'll point them out here. This will be updated more frequently, with thoughts about whatever I'm currently working on.

So I have this everpresent problem where I totally and completely fudge my details in every drawing. I'm trying to work on cleaner linework and more solid drawings. I've been doing a lot of work with colored pencil lately, and the style I'm developing with the pencils requires a completely clear structure. So that's what I'm working on right now.

Also, every fucking woman I draw looks the same and has the same hairdo lately. And it's like, sort of like my own. That happens with pretty much every new hairdo I have. And when I scan things I notice flaws that I did not see on paper. Oh well.
